The market has evolved in the 50 years since our founding, and so has William H. Smith & Associates, Inc. We provide our clients a comprehensive offering of land surveying and engineering services including traditional survey mapping, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) survey data acquisition. As a Professional Land Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing a growing department of experienced staff, possessing a full complement of skills. The variety of projects you will encounter include survey plats, ALTA land title surveys, Oil and Gas Surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction surveys, legal descriptions and other surveying related projects. Additional duties include training and supervising less experienced staff, client relations, and project management. This is a full-time, benefited position.  Salary range  70,000-100,000/year DOE.

Essential Qualifications: 

  • At least 5 – 10 years of relevant experience
  • Associates/Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Land Surveying
  • Professional Land Surveyor licensed in Wyoming and capable of being licensed in other states within 6 months
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Trimble Survey  Equipment, MS Office
  • Office management experience
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience in preparation of land survey documents

As a WHS Materials Testing Lab Manager, you will be coordinating all laboratory activities in the Rock Springs Location to ensure work is completed on time and in accordance with project requirements and safety standards. You will perform necessary maintenance and testing to maintain laboratory accreditation (ASSHATO). You will be responsible for creating, reviewing, and distributing laboratory test reports to Clients. You may also serve as the project manager for projects with heavy lab focus.

Required Qualifications: 

  • ACI (American Concrete Institute) certification
  • WYDOT (WMTC) Asphalt Concrete Technician
  • WYDOT (WMTC) Soils and Aggregate Technician
  • 3+years of Materials Testing experience
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Reliability–must be able to arrive at project sites prior to scheduled times
  • Must be able to prepare reports and documentation
  • Must have the ability to interpret construction plans/ drawings and project specifications as well as industry standards for testing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+years of Materials Testing experience
  • ACI (American Concrete Institute) certification
  • ACI Laboratory Testing Technician Level 1
  • WYDOT Asphalt Concrete Technician
  • WYDOT Soils and Aggregate Technician

Essential Duties:

  • Will perform field inspections and observations roadways, structures, and construction projects
  • Will perform soil, concrete, aggregate and masonry testing
  • Will interact with client representative at project sites
  • Will monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
  • Will provide daily reports of observation and test results
  • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data
  • Must have the ability to lift (up to) 40 pounds
  • Must be able to work in variable outside conditions

  • 5-8+ years of experience working with AutoCAD and Trimble software.
  • Experience working with Skyline Software a plus but not required.
  • Requires the capability of working within a variety of industries including but not limited to: Oil & Gas, Construction & Development, and Government related projects.
  • Must have excellent time management skills, be able to work within and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong math and geometry skills.
